JAMMU, May 28: Expressing strong resentment over the decision of the Governor’s Administration to continue with the same winter timings in Govt offices in Jammu region, a large number of Govt employees today staged massive protest demonstration and dharna near Press Club, Jammu today.
They were demanding change in office timings during summer months in Jammu region. The employees under the banner of J&K Employees Joint Action Committee ( R), assembled near Press Club in the morning around 10.30 am and started protest demonstration against the Governor’s Administration and in support of their demands.
Senior trade unionists, Kulwant Singh, Yash Pal Sharma, Babu Hussain Malik, Amar Nath Thakur, Satish Dutta, Vijay Sharma and others were leading. They also addressed the gathering and alleged that it is for the first time in the history that Governor’s Administration has not changed the summer timings in the Govt offices. They said that it is very difficult to work under intense hot conditions in Jammu region from 10 am to 4.30 pm. The old office timings from 8 am to 2 pm must be restored. They warned to intensify the struggle if their demand was not accepted. And if the Govt is adamant on its decision, then it should declare 5 day week workings in all the Govt offices like done in Civil Secretariat, they asserted.
The further demanded enhancement of Medical allowance of the employees and pensioners from Rs 300 to Rs 5000 per month, remove pay anomalies of clerical cadre/ amendment in SRO -333, withdraw SRO 30-GAD of 2019 dated 24-5-2019 which is totally against the interests of the daily wagers, contractual/ consolidated employees and regularization of all the Gazetted and Non-Gazetted employees of Education department and release the salary and 7th Pay Commission arrears of the SSA teachers.
