Eight injured as mini-bus plunges into gorge

JAMMU, July 6: Eight persons were injured today when a mini-bus carrying passengers rolled down the road and plunged into a deep gorge in Surinsar area on the outskirts of Jammu.
According to a police official, a mini-bus (bearing registration number JK02AK-3831) was on its way to Jammu from Surinsar this morning when while taking a turn near Chilla Village, the driver lost control over the vehicle and it rolled into a deep gorge.
“In the mishap, eight persons including driver and conductor of the vehicle received injuries,” the official said, adding all the injured were shifted to Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu for treatment.
He said the injured were identified as Puran Chand (40) son of Shiv Ram, Kaka Ram (30) son of Mansa Ram, Subash Chander (40) son of Munshi Ram, Tilak Raj (45) son of Jattu Ram, Puran Chand (40) son of Rodu Ram, Sagar Chand (28) son of Rodu Ram, Sharief Din (65) son of Kala Din and Rattan Chand (70) son of Dina Nath, all residents of Surinsar.
“While condition of Puran Chand was critical, other injured persons were stable,” the official said, adding, a case in this connection was registered at police station Jhajjar Kotli and further investigation started.
