JAMMU, May 27: Eid ul Adha, also known as festival of sacrifice was celebrated with great religious fervour and gaiety across Jammu region today.
In Jammu the members of Muslim community offered special Eid prayers at various Eidgahs and mosques. The members of Muslim community attired in white dress thronged the Eidgahs and mosques in the morning to offer special Eid prayers.

The main religious congregation was held at Eidgah Residency Road here where hundreds of Muslims drawn from different parts of the city and its outskirts participated in special Eid prayers despite scorching heat. The rush of was comparatively less than last time due to intensive heat wave.
On the occasion Imam, Inayat Ullah threw light on the significance of Eid ul Adha in Islam and sacrifice made during the festival.
He, while talking to reporters said that “We prayed for the peace and prosperity of mankind besides settlement of Middle East crisis as well as prayed for the peace in entire world so that the people live like brothers across the entire globe’’.
Special Eid prayers were also held in Jama Masjid Khatinka Talab, Jama Masjid , Ustad Mohalla, Eidgahs Batindi, Sidhrah and Sunjwan besides other mosques in outskirts of Jammu city.
The members of other communities were seen greeting their Muslim brethren on the occasion. The children also attired in colourful dresses were seen busy in purchasing gifts etc.
On the auspicious occasion of Eid-ul-Adha, a large gathering of the Muslim community offered special Eid prayers at Eidgah Doda. The congregational prayers were led by the Imam of Jamia Masjid Doda.
The officers of the district administration interacted with religious leaders and members of the public and extended warm greetings on the auspicious occasion. They conveyed their heartfelt wishes for peace, prosperity, happiness and well-being to the people of the district.
Sweets were also distributed among the people as part of the celebrations, adding to the festive spirit and joy of the occasion.
Similar Eid prayers were also offered at various Eidgahs and mosques across different parts of the district, where devotees gathered in large numbers to celebrate the festival with religious fervour and devotion.
The festival of Eid- Ul-Adha was celebrated with great enthusiasm and religious fervour in Bhadarwah as a large gathering of the Muslim community offered special Eid prayers at Eidgah Bhadarwah this morning.
The congregational prayers were led by the Imam of Jamia Masjid Bhadarwah.
On the sacred festival of Eid, the district administration along with police officers distributed sweets and chocolates among children to spread joy and festive spirit.
The officers interacted with children and locals, extending Eid greetings and emphasizing the values of love, peace and communal brotherhood associated with the festival.
Eid-ul-Adha was celebrated across Poonch district with great religious fervour, enthusiasm and communal harmony.
Special Eid prayers were offered at the Eidgah where a large number of devotees from various villages and areas of Poonch district participated with religious devotion. After offering prayers, people greeted each other and prayed for prosperity, peace and well-being of the society.
District administration extended heartfelt Eid-ul-Adha greetings to the people and prayed for lasting peace, communal harmony and prosperity in the district. They also appreciated the spirit of unity and brotherhood displayed by the people during the celebrations.
The festival concluded peacefully with people celebrating the occasion in a spirit of mutual respect, harmony and happiness.
Eid was also celebrated with great religious fervour in Mendhar and other towns of district where a large number of Muslims thronged the Eidgahs and mosques to offer special Eid prayers.

Addressing a large Eid congregation the Imam highlighted the religious significance of the day in Islam. He also prayed for peace and well being of people.
The Eid was also celebrated with great charm and enthusiasm at Darhal, Manjakote, Thana Mandi, Kalakote, Koteranka, Nowshera and other areas of Rajouri district.
Eid was also celebrated with great charm in Kathua, Billawar, Bani, Basohli , Samba, Reasi, Udhampur, Ramban, Banihal and Gool Arnas and other small towns of Jammu region.
