JAMMU, Feb 17: A delegation of public representatives from SC/ST community led by Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand today called on Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah and raised the issue of the latest circular by the General Administration Department regarding reframing of seniority list and application of catch up rule in the services.
The delegation comprised Minister for Forest, Environment, and Ecology, Mian Altaf Ahmad, Minister for Medical Education, Sports and Youth Services, Taj Mohi-ud-Din, Minister for Urban Development and Urban Local Bodies, Nawang Rigzin Jora, MoS (IC) Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation, Ajaz Ahmed Khan, MoS Science & Technology and Information Technology, Feroz Ahmad Khan, MoS Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, Nazir Ahmad Khan Gurezi, Deputy Chairman, Legislative Council, Javed Ahmad Rana, Advisor to CM Qamar Ali Akhoon, Vice-Chairman, State Advisory Board for development of Gujjar and Bakerwal, Bashir A Naaz, MLAs, Krishan Chander Bhagat, Ashok Kumar and T. Namgyal and MLCs, Narboo Gialchan and Aga Syed Ahmad Rizvi.
The Deputy Chief Minister said that state has its own Reservation Act in place and the catch up rule finds no place in the Act, adding that the rule as such cannot be implemented with regard to fixing seniority of reserved category employees.
The Chief Minister assured the delegation that any such order which is ultra virus to the provisions of the Act would be reviewed.
