DSEK fires 9 teachers

SRINAGAR, Jan 14: The Directorate of School Education, Kashmir (DSEK) has terminated the services of nine teachers posted across Kashmir for remaining absent from the duties for years together.
The teachers who have been terminated include Arumella Koul, Teacher BHS Diver, Baramulla, Ranjeet Kour, Teacher HS Kralweth, Baramulla, Sunil Kumar Raina, Teacher, MS Moti Mohalla, Srinagar, Aijaz Ahmad Bhat, GPS Shuloora Kupwara, Saima Gani, Teacher BHSS Zadibal Srinagar, Suhail Anees, Teacher BHS Nawagabra Kupwara, Mohammad Rafiq Khan, RReT MS Fraw Ganderbal, Sheetal Bhat, Teacher BHSS Kupwara and Nazia Mushtaq, BHS Laderwan Kupwara.
Concerning Arumella Koul, the DSEK said that the concerned teacher has been absent from her duties since 2013 even as several chances were given to her to resume the duties, but to no avail.
“Pursuant to the decision of the committee, Arumella Koul, Teacher BHS Diver, Baramulla is hereby removed from the Government services,” the DSEK said.
About Ranjeet Kour, it said that the concerned teacher applied for 6 months extraordinary leave from 28/04/2014 with station permission to proceed to United States of America (outside the country). However, despite repeated notices, the concerned teacher did not respond, prompting the authorities to terminate her services.
The third teacher, Sunil Kumar Raina who was appointed in the Department as Teacher under PM’s package and subsequently posted in MS Moti Mohalla, Zone Nishat District Srinagar.
The DSEK said that the concerned teacher continued on the post just for 3 months up to 31/10/2017 and thereafter remained unauthorizedly absent from duties from 01/11/2017, without completion of the probation period.
He was also served several notices, asking him to join back his duties, but there was no response. “Pursuant to the decision of the committee Sunil Kumar Raina, Teacher, MS Moti Mohalla, District Srinagar is hereby removed from Government service,” DSEK said.
About, Aijaz Ahmad Bhat, DSEK said that the concerned teacher has remained absent from his duties since 2015, Saima Gani from July 2013, Suhail Anees from May 2015, Muhammad Rafiq Khan from March 2012, Sheetal Bhat appointed under PM’s Package also remained absent from August 2011 and Nazia Mushtaq remained absent from her legitimate duties since 2015.
The DSEK said that all the fired teachers were given ample opportunity to join their duties back before issuing formal termination orders.
