Drug proceeds, more heroin recovered from arrested accused

REASI, Feb 12: Interrogation of an arrested drug peddler has led to recovery of 10.67 grams more heroin and cash of Rs 3.06 lakh.
On 9th of February, accused Munish Kumar and Prem Kumar of village Serwad, Katra were arrested and police had recovered 49.43 gm Heroin from their possession. In this regard case FIR No. 43/2024 U/S 8/ 21/22/29 NDPS Act was registered against them at Police Station Katra & investigations was initiated.
During further course of investigations, accused Munish Kumar was put under sustained questioning by officers during which he confessed that he had hidden cash and weighing machine at his residence.
On this Reasi Police conducted searches at suspected places including the house of accused Munish Kumar, in the presence of Executive Magistrate Ist Class Katra. The police team recovered cash amounting to Rs 3,06,000/- and two digital weighing machines.
Prem Kumar was also put under sustained questioning during which he confessed that he had hidden more illegal drugs at his residence. On this Police raided and made searches in the presence of EMIC Katra and recovered 10.67 gm heroin.
Further investigation into financial transactions in the illegal trade in the case is being explored to unweave the illegal network of drug peddling by the accused & their associates. SSP Reasi, Mohita Sharma is personally monitoring progress & reviewing the case on day to day basis.
Meanwhile, Police arrested another drug peddler in Pouni area.
During routine naka duty at Puria, Pouni area, Police intercepted an Auto rickshaw bearing number JK20-4275 which was coming from Pouni side towards Puria, Domail. On checking, 18 strips (containing 10 tablets each) of Novotram and 45 strips (containing 10 tablets each) of Denpinol P were recovered from dash board of the vehicle.
On enquiry, the driver of the vehicle disclosed his name as Gopal Krishan, son of Mohan Lal of Bharakh Tehsil Pouni District Reasi and co-driver disclosed his identity as Rakesh Singh @ Raju son of Chatur Singh of Pouni. Both of them failed to give any satisfactory reply regarding the possession of tablets.
In this connection a case under NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Pouni. The arrest was made by SHO Pouni Purab singh under the supervision of DySP headquarter Reasi, Neeraj Padyar.
