JAMMU, Jan 28: Janipur and Chowk Chabutra Police arrested two drug peddlers and recovered heroin and cannabis from their possession.
As per police sources, during patrolling a team from Police Station Janipur led by SHO Inspector Ajaz Haider asked a pedestrian to stop for checking as he was moving under suspicious circumstances.
During checking, police team recovered 55 grams cannabis from the possession of the pedestrian and arrested him.
The arrested person was identified as Sohail Ahmad Malik, a resident of District Kulgam Kashmir.
A case under FIR Number 06/2022 under Section 8/20 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Janipur and investigation started.
Meanwhile, a team from Police Post Chowk Chabutra led by PSI Jyoti Choudhary under the supervision of SDPO City Sharad Kalu and SP City Kulbir Handa laid a naka and apprehended a drug peddler along with 5 grams heroin.
The arrested person was identified as Karan Bhardwaj, son of Sham Lal, a resident of Jullaka Mohalla, District Jammu.
A case under FIR Number 11/2022 under Section 8/21/22 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Pacca Danga and investigation started to ascertain the source of the consignment and other persons involved in this illegal trade.
