UDHAMPUR, May 5: Continuing its drive against drug peddlers, a police party of Police Station Udhampur today arrested a drug peddler and seized 155 kg poppy straw from his possession.
A police team led by Inspector Chanchal Singh, SHO PS Udhampur under the supervision of Sahil Mahajan, Dy.SP Hqrs laid a naka at Jakhani Chowk for checking.
During the naka cops stopped a truck bearing registration number JK05A/0245 and during its search found 155 kg poppy straw.
The alleged narcotic smuggler Mukesh Kumar son of Mani Ram of Pouni, Reasi attempted to flee from the spot but was chased by cops and arrested.
The involved vehicle was also seized.
Police has registered a case in this connection U/S 8/15 NDPS Act at PS Udhampur and further investigation is underway.
