RAMBAN, Apr 20: Police has busted a drug peddling module after recovering narcotic substances during a search operation in the Bathi area of Maitra.
Acting on credible inputs, a team from Police Station Ramban, accompanied by an Executive Magistrate and lady police personnel, conducted a search at the residence of Anchal Singh, son of Charan Singh, a resident of Bathi, Maitra.
During the operation, around 100-110 grams of charas-like substance, packed in two transparent polypacks, was recovered from the house where it had been concealed beneath clothes. Police also seized a weighing scale and stones of varying sizes, suspected to have been used for measuring the contraband.
The accused was apprehended on the spot. During preliminary questioning, he reportedly admitted involvement in the illegal narcotics trade.
A case under FIR Number 89/2026 has been registered at Police Station Ramban under relevant provisions of the NDPS Act. The accused has been taken into custody, and further investigation is underway to trace backward and forward linkages in the case.
