Dr Jitendra hosts media get-together

NEW DELHI, Oct 27: Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), MoS PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances, Pensions, Atomic Energy and Space, Dr Jitendra Singh hosted a media get-together over lunch, which was attended by prominent Delhi based TV anchors and reporters, representatives from print media as well as some of the well known veterans .
Arun Jaitley, Union Finance Minister and National Spokespersons of BJP also attended the event.
This was a part of the regular routine, followed by Dr. Jitendra Singh, of holding quarterly luncheon meetings with Delhi based media persons.
The informal interaction, lasting over three hours, offered an opportunity for free frank discussion on wide range of current topics of national importance and the inputs available about these in different sections of the media.
Media persons from different electronic channels and print newspapers offered their inputs about the upcoming Assembly elections in Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh as well their inside assessment of the situation in Jammu & Kashmir in the wake of the recent developments.
Arun Jaitley provided an update on the follow-up on GST Bill and the emerging economic situation in the country. He also gave his assessment of his recent overseas tour and interaction with financial experts and policy makers in different countries.
Jaitley also gave his assessment about the upcoming Assembly elections in the States of Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh, and said, BJP was comfortably well-placed in both the States.
Dr Jitendra Singh, who is also Co-Incharge of Gujarat elections, said, as the date of polling draws closer, the BJP tally will go on increasing and finally meet the 150+ target. He also expressed optimism about the changing situation in Kashmir, which is fast turning for the better.
The media persons dwelt on a number of other diverse issues as well and also engaged in casual informal chat.
They profusely appreciated Dr Jitendra Singh for having initiated the practice of regular informal luncheon interactions with media persons.
