JAMMU, May 15: Vice Chancellor, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU), Katra Prof SK Jain today inaugurated two day Philately Exhibition in the University campus and also released special cover on the Sri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU) in the presence of Chief Postmaster General John Samuel.
On the occasion a modernized Post Office was also dedicated by Vice Chancellor SMVDU housing in the University premises.
Chief Postmaster General in his speech said it is for the first time in J&K that a Philately Exhibition has been organized in a University.
During the two day long exhibition displays hundreds of rare and varied stamps issued in India and in other countries, he added.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof Jain said induction of latest technology and appropriate infrastructure is mandatory for any organization for procuring business and that it is glad that DoP has started executing this plan.
Director Postal Services Jammu Jagdeep Gupta was also present on the occasion.
Meanwhile, Member of Parliament Lal Singh today dedicated Modernized Post Office at Reasi to general public in the presence of John Samuel, Chief Postmaster General, J&K Circle.
The Post Office has been modernized under the “Project Arrow” launched by the Department of Posts.
Deputy Commissioner Reasi Dr Shabir Iqbal Khan and Vijay Chowdry, SPO Udhampur Postal Division were also present.
Later, in the evening Chief Postmaster General, John Samuel dedicated modernized Post Office at Vijaypur in Samba district. The Post Office at Vijaypur has been shifted to new building and provided with all latest facilities and infrastructure.
Speaking on the occasion, Samuel said that the modern Post Office will function from 9 am to 5 pm and will provide all facilities like Registered Post, Speed Post, Savings Bank, Insurance facilities, Post Shop and all e-enabled services.
