JAMMU, May 13: The illustrious daughter of Duggar and distinguished litterateur, Padma Sachdev was honoured by Dogri Sanstha at a glittering function embellished with poetry, music and audio visual presentation at Abhinav Theatre, here today.
The event, which was organized to felicitate Padma Sachdev on her selection for the most prestigious Sarswati Samman, was attended among others by Dr K Srinivasrao, Secretary, Sahitya Akademi New Delhi as chief guest.
On this occasion, Mrs Sachdev was presented a memento, Angvastram and bouquet as a token of love and honour by Dogri Sanstha. It followed an entrancing programme of music based on the poignant poetry of Padma Sachdev. The magical compositions were prepared by the noted music director Brij Mohan.
The young singing sensation Sonali Dogra presented famous song of Padma Sachdev ‘kun aakhdaa des nikaala nei’ . Her presentation of another popular poem of the poetess ‘eh raje diyaan mandiyaan tundiyan n’ , supported by audio-visual clip produced by Sudesh Verma, was highly applauded. Prominent singer Indu Bala gave her melodic voice to another famous song ‘ thandu de din aaye chitthiyaan bhej maae’ while sole male singer Vivek Mohan presented ‘phiri phull nikale phiri bahaar aai’. The singers were supported by Rakesh Anand on flute, Sanjay Pashi on Guitar, Karan Malhotra on Tabla and Bunti Pandotra on Synth. Padma Sachdev recited some of her choicest poems during the musical programme.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr K Srinivasrao, gave brief account of activities of Sahitya Akademi undertaken for the promotion of Dogri language and literature.
Prof Lalit Magotra, in his presidential address, eulogized the literary contribution of Padma Sachdev.
Earlier Tarana of Sanstha was screened highlighting its 7-decade literary and cultural journey. Audio visual support for the event was provided by Verma Video Vision.
The programme was anchored by Dr Nirmal Vinod.
