Students, parents lock school, hold protest against teachers

KISHTWAR, May 13: Stude-nts of Government Middle School, Malikpura staged protest along with their parents against the non availability of teaching staff in their school.
After locking the school, the students along with parents held protest and raised slogans against the Education Department for its failure to keep check over the availability of the teaching staff.
“The non-availability of teachers is jeopardising our career”, said a protesting student.
The parents of the agitating students said that it was unfortunate that despite having good strength of students in schools located, the Education Department has failed to check the presence of the deputed staff.
They said that the teachers deputed are not coming to school for the past over one week and there is no check over their presence/attendance.
Later, Patwari rushed to the spot and after taking the attendance registered submitted it to the concerned officers.
When contacted, DC Kishtwar, GN Balwan said that six teachers are deputed in the school, out of which three were unauthorized absent, one was present in the school and two were on leave.
We have suspended the teachers, who were unauthorized absent and inquiry has been initiated, he added.
