JAMMU, Mar 10: Under a unique initiative by muffasil Dogri poets and writers, Dogri Sahitya Sabha, Marh, organized a literary program to felicitate Padamshree Nilmaber Dev Sharma and Prof Lalit Magotra for their life-long contribution to development of Dogri as a modern language, at the K L Saigal Hall, here today.
Conducted by well known Dogri short story writer Chhatar Pal, the program started with Prof Veena Gupta, giving an overview of Padamshree Nilmaber Dev Sharma’s biographical details and creative writings in Dogri while Prof Shashi Pathania read a comprehensive paper on Sahitya Akademi awardee Prof Magotra’s life and works.
The other highlight of the function was the release of Dhayan Singh’s collection of illustrated Dogri poems and songs for children titled ‘Parde Niyaane Gurde Syaane’. The book was hailed as an important contribution in corpus of children literature in Dogri.
The function concluded with poetic symposium in which Dogri poets from Marh block read their latest poems. The participating poets included Savita Sharma, Rattan Doshi, Puran Chand Badgotrra, Prem Nath Radha, Randhir Singh Raipuria, Dhayan Singh and Puran Chander Sharma.
The program attended by well known Dogri poets and writers was presided by Savita Bakshi, Additional Secretary, J&K Academy of art, Culture and Languages while Prof Nilamber Dev Sharma, Prof Lalit Magotra, Puran Chander Sharma, president and Lal Chand, secretary, Dogri Sahitya Sabha, Marh, were in the presidium.
