Dogri play “Shah Shahni” staged at Reasi

Katra, June 28: “Shah Shahni” Dogri play was presented by Shadab Khan at NHPC Auditorium Jyotipuram (Reasi) today.
The story of the play revolves around two main characters Shah Shahni. The theme of the play was love and peace, which gave the message that nation can be divided but love in the hearts of people can never be divided no matters if boundary lines were drawn.
The play depicted the picture of Muslim man namely “Shah“who went to Pakistan in 1947 and he visted back to India after 60 years by Samjhauta Express. He visted locality where he lived once and met his childhood friend “Shahni“ who has turned a very old lady. By seeing each other, they become happy and discuss their unforgettable moments of youth and lies about their marriage and even grand children, but after sometime, they come to know that both were still unmarried.
Due to shortage of time, Shah left for his country with part time happy moments having message that love still prevails in the hearts of people after the division of India and Pakistan.
Those who performed in the play included Preedep Sharma as Shahni, Rajni Bhatti as Shahni, Kuldeep Mehra as Ghara, Neha Sharma as Chanchalo, Sheel Manhas as Kasturi, Chanakya Sharma as Aadmi and in chorus was Manjeet, Tarsem, Vishal, Arvind, Sachdev. The supporting artists of backstage Music by Rohit Verma, Make up M.Akram Khan,Costume by Vijay Goswami , Set Design by Rifat Yasmeen Light by Sahil Abrol and Rajesh Ajnabi.
On the occasion, Dr. Shahid Iqbal Choudhary Deputy Commissioner Reasi was the chief guest while AG Ansari General Manager Salal Power Station was the guest of honour and Rajinder Singh Tara Addl Deputy Commissioner Reasi presided over the function.
