KARGIL, Feb 23: Divisional Commissioner Ladakh, Saugat Biswas today convened a public meeting at BDO office Shargole.
Executive Councillor for Health and Councillor Shargole area, Muhammad Ali Chandan; President LBA Kargil, Nawang Tsering and other prominent citizens were also present on the occasion.
The Div Com was accompanied by Assistant Commissioner Development, Kargil, Executive Engineers of I&FC and PHE, BDO Shargole, engineers of various divisions of PWD besides block level officers and others.
Various delegations from different villages of Shargole area including the Sarpanchs and Panchs present in the public meeting apprised the Div Com about the problems and issues being faced by them.
The demands projected by the people mainly included up-gradation of schools, augmentation of water supply, construction of residential schools, repair and renovation of irrigation khuls, construction of ice hockey rinks etc.
Biswas assured that all genuine demands and concerns would be redressed in phased manner.
Responding to the demand for augmentation of water supply in the area, the Div Com gave on spot directions to the Executive Engineer PHE to provide water in the area through water tankers on alternate days.
With regard to the repair and renovation of the main irrigation khul in the area, the Div Com instructed the engineers concerned to prepare necessary estimates at the earliest and submit the same to the concerned quarters so that funds are arranged accordingly.
