Div Com inspects progress on Bikram Chowk flyover

JAMMU, Nov 19: Divisional Commissioner Jammu Shantmanu today visited the construction site of Bikram Chowk flyover and widening of road from Bikram Chowk to Convent School and took stock of progress of works there. He was accompanied by Director Central ERA J&K Alok Mengi and other senior functionaries of ERA Department.
Mr Alok Mengi apprised the Divisional Commissioner about the physical and financial achievements made under the project.
He informed that the construction work on Rs. 95 crores ambitious flyover project is in full swing and would be completed by May, 2016.
He further informed that as many as 16 piers have already been completed and foundation level work on 19 piers has been completed.   He said that the project also includes two subways for the convenience of the pedestrians.
While inspecting the ongoing construction work of the flyover Mr.  Shantmanu said directed the accompanying officers to expedite the work on the project. He also said that Bikram Chowk flyover project has great significance as it will ease the traffic rush on the roads of Jammu.
He further said that the flyover would play a vital role in reducing the traffic congestion in Jammu city particularly near Bikram Chowk junction, Police Lines and Gandhi Nagar Chowk.
He asked the engineers to work in close coordination and synergy to remove any bottleneck to avoid delay in the completion of flyover.
Later, the Divisional Commissioner along with ERA authorities also visited the plant site for construction of flyover at Bikram Chowk.
