JAMMU, Jan 3: Two delegations of the Kashmiri Pandit displaced employees met Dr. Jitendra Singh, Minister of State in the PMO here, today. The delegations were led by Ashwani Kumar Chrungoo and Virender Raina, President and National Spokesperson of Panun Kashmir respectively.
Pamposh Kaul, Convener, KDEF made a presentation regarding the issue of leave encashment due to the migrant employees at the time of retirement from the services. This issue was already brought to the notice of the Minister some six months back and the State Government also made a significant forward movement in this regard. Though a positive approach has been taken by the department concerned yet a final solution to the issue is awaited. The acceptance of the genuine demand of the displaced employees will be taken as a serious confidence building measure by the displaced community.
The delegation impressed upon the Minister to use his good offices so that a positive decision is taken by the Government at an earliest.
The second delegation’s case was presented by Neerja Kumari Kaul who raised the issue of adjustment of the promoted migrant teachers in Jammu. These teachers who were meticulously serving in the various camp schools for the last 17 years and who are mostly female employees were asked for adjustment by the authorities in Anantnag district last year. The posting of these employees in Kashmir Valley is a cause of concern for the family members of these employees. Their age old parents require their support at the fag end of their life and this support at this juncture of the life is indispensable for them.
The Government could very easily adjust these promoted teachers in the camp schools at Jammu where these teachers are already serving and thus will need no creation or transfer of posts the delegation said. The Government has been requested to take a humanitarian view of the situation and the Minister was appealed to intervene in the matter and advise the authorities concerned to take a reasonable and lenient approach in this regard.
Dr. Jitendra Singh assured the delegation that the matter will be taken up at an appropriate level by his office so that the problems faced by the employees are appropriately redressed.
Prominent among those who formed the part of the delegations included Kamal Bagati, Rajinder Tikoo, Surinder Koul, Meenu Kaul, Vijay Raina, Daizy Ambardar, Sakula Bhat, Rashmi Bhat and Rajni Kumari.
