RAJOURI, Aug 5: People here today staged a protest demonstration as the road leading to BGSBU continues to be in dilapidated condition despite repeated public cry and protests by the public and students.
The protesters said that a small stretch of the road, about 300 meter, from Sheema Crossing to Police Guest House is in dilapidated condition and the traffic of the University along with that of the town has been diverted on this road to reduce traffic jams on Gujjar Mandi road.
The protesters said that work on the road was left midway by the contractor due to which the public is suffering. They also said that it becomes difficult for the students to ply their vehicles on this road and they have to face hardship to reach University due to the bad road leading to the University.
When contacted Ex En PWD Rajouri said that administrative approval was not granted to this road due to which the contractor slowed down the pace of the work.
He informed that the issue is almost solved now and work on the road may start soon.
The protesters urged upon J&K LG to look into the matter.
