HIRANAGAR (Kathua), Aug 5: Department of Music, Government GLDM Degree College Hiranagar released a book with the title ‘Role and Importance of Music Education in Schools’, here today.
The book was released by the NAAC Peer team comprising of Prof Jagdish Kumar Patnaik, Pro-vice Chancellor Mizoram University, Prof Vijay Janardhan Fulari and Dr Renukaradhaya SC along with the College Principal, Dr Pragya Khanna, IQAC coordinator, Prof Shujat Khan and the editors and editorial board of the book.
The book consists of the proceedings of the national webinar held in January 2022 and the research papers contributed by professors, musicians, teachers and research scholars. The book deals with the various issues pertaining to the introduction of music as a subject in schools and other relevant sub-themes.
“The introduction of music education in schools is as important as the introduction of physical education and sports. The role of music could be witnessed to enhance brain development, help fighting against stress disorders and also helps in building connection and relation between humans,” said a speaker while releasing the book.
College Principal, Dr Pragya Khanna, extended heartfelt wishes to the contributors and editors. She expressed the hope that the work would become an asset for academicians and policy makers and will also act as a source of inspiration for everyone who seeks to pursue music as a subject or career or undertake research.
The book is edited by Dr Bharat Bhushan, Head Department of Music. Dr Mukesh Kumar, Assistant Professor is the co-editor of the book and editorial board was comprised of Dr Arun Kumar, Head Department of Sociology, Dr Jyoti Rani, Assistant Professor Department of Hindi, Dr Usha Rani, Assistant Professor Department of Dogri and Vikram Jamwal, Physical Director Department of Physical Education and Sports.
