DGP sanctions Rs 3.5 cr soft welfare loan for flood hit cops

SRINAGAR, Oct 2: The Jammu and Kashmir Police Headquarters (PHQ) today sanctioned soft welfare loan of Rs 3.5 crore in favour of 715 police personnel, who were affected by the recent floods in the State. The soft loan has been sanctioned out of Central Police Welfare Fund, which is completely a contributory fund of the Organization.
The decision was taken at a welfare meeting held at PHQ today, presided by Director General of Police, K. Rajendra Kumar. He said that the recent floods have affected the people of the State at a large scale in which properties of police persons were also damaged.  The decision has been taken, in relaxation of standing rules, to provide immediate assistance to the affected police families so that they could meet the requirements, he added.
Mr. Rajendra disclosed that the loan has been sanctioned in the first phase and more personnel would be provided such assistance after obtaining applications from the affected personnel. He assured that the Organization is at back of the affected police families and would provide every possible assistance to rebuild their damaged properties.
