JAMMU, July 23: Despite rains, the female dental surgeons under the banner of Dental Surgeons Association (DSA) continued their chain hunger strike for the eleventh consecutive day, whereas the dharna by the Association entered 23rd day here today.
The unemployed dental surgeons assembled at Ambphalla Chowk and raised slogans in favour of their demands.
Continuing the chain hunger strike, Dr Vijayata Suri was sitting on fast to carry forward the movement of the Association.
Chairman of the Association, Dr Pawan Singh appealed the people to come forward and join their protest on humanitarian grounds. He also announced that the protest will continue till their demands are met, he added.
At Srinagar also, the unemployed dental surgeons gathered in huge numbers at Sher-e-Kashmir Park from wherefrom they marched towards Press Enclave shouting slogans against the Government.
The protesting dental surgeons were demanding complete absorption of unemployed dental youth, recruitment of dental surgeons on yearly basis and establishment of Directorate for dental health in the State.
Meanwhile, Bhartiya Janta Yuva Morcha (BJYM) today extended his support to agitation Dental Surgeons Association.
State Secretary, BJYM, Partap Singh Jamwal in a meeting with the agitating surgeons at Ambphalla, Jammu, lambasted Government for its arrogant attitude towards the surgeons and announced the unconditional support of BJYM to protesting surgeons.
