SRINAGAR, July 23: Speaker  Legislative Assembly Mubarak Gul today inaugurated Eidgah Park constructed at an estimated cost of Rs. 2.31 crore. The park has been developed by the J&K Housing Board.
The Speaker was accompanied by the Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Rohit Kansal, Secretary Waqaf Board, G. M. Rather, Secretary Assembly M. Ramzan, Special Secretary Assembly, M. R. Singh, Joint Commissioner Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC)   and other senior officers of Police, J&K Housing Board, Floriculture, JKPCC, PDD, Revenue, PHE, Waqaf Board, Assembly Secretariat, R&B, and LAWDA.
Speaking on the occasion, the Speaker said that it was a long pending demand of the people of the area, which fulfilled due to the efforts of the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah who had shown serious concern during the last budget session and sufficient funds have been earmarked for the development of Eidgah project. He said efforts are afoot to make the Eidgah constituency a model one of the Srinagar district.
Mr Gul said that the directions have already been given to the R&B Department for macadamization of Sakidafar-Rathpora road on war-footing basis. He asked the J&K Bank Limited authorities to donate a see-saw and other related things for Eidgah park.
The Speaker congratulated the people on the Eve of Jumat-ul-Vida, Shab-i-Qadr, Eid-ul-Fitr and hoped that these festivals will be  harbinger for welfare of the people of the State.
Earlier, the Speaker inspected various ongoing developmental works of Eidgah project including construction work of Eidgah prayer ground.
He directed the executing agency JKPCC to start immediate face lifting of Mimber Sharief of Eidgah and ensure the completion of levelling of the ground within two days positively.
He also asked the SMC and PDD to ensure the functioning of existing street lights on the eve of Jumat-ul-Vida, Shab-i-Qadr, Eid-ul-Fitr, besides proper sanitation around the mosques and prayer grounds.
Mr Gul directed the Waqaf Board Authorities to ensure public address system and cleanliness in and around the prayer ground.
Later, the Speaker convened a Divisional level officers meeting and reviewed the arrangements finalized for the auspicious festivals Jumat-ul-Vida. Shab-i-Qadr, Eid-ul-Fitr in the Valley.
