Democracy Festival on voter awareness organised

JAMMU, Dec 15: Heading close towards the day of polling, “Wake Up Jammu” campaign is picking momentum day by day by organizing a series of mega voter awareness programme especially in urban areas of the district.
A Democracy Festival on voter awareness was organized by District SVEEP Team under the guidance of District Election Officer Ajeet Kumar Sahu at General Zorawar Singh Auditorium, Jammu University today. Artists from Cultural Academy, Natrang, Women College Parade Ground and GGM Science College made jam packed audience in thousands spell bound by their scintillating performances on the theme of voter awareness.
Performances by RJ Sarang and RJ Juhi from Big FM 92.7 on voter awareness also attracted splendid applause of the audience.
General Observers for Assembly elections, ACD Jammu Suram C.Sharma, GM, District Centre Vishal Sharma, Registrar Jammu University Manoj Kumar Dhar, Manager Big FM 92.7 Vikrant, other District Officers, BLOs and University staff were present on the occasion.
The renowned theatre group Natrang presented the famous act play “Loktantra Ka Mantra” to create voter awareness for mass electoral participation which got standing ovations by the audience. A Dogri traditional play “”Jattar” depicting importance of voting by the artists from  J& K Academy of Art Culture & Languages , “Nukkad Natak” on mass voter awareness by the student artists from Govt. College Parade Ground and superb speech by Sachin Abrol, part 2 student of GGM Science College  also got thumping response from the audience.
Besides, photo exhibition by DAVP and District SVEEP team on photographs and slogans to achieve enhanced electoral participation was a great attraction for the visitors who took keen interest in the displays. A power point presentation on SVEEP related activities in the district was also presented on the occasion. In the end a pledge was taken by the audience to cast their vote on Assembly election scheduled to be held on Dec. 20, 2014.
Mobile Voter Registration Van (Democracy Express) was also stationed in the campus and visitors took interest in it and also enquired about facilities available in it.
