Demise of Cong veteran P Namgyal widely mourned

JAMMU, June 1: P Namgyal, former Union Minister, veteran Congress leader and a man of commitment, who always remained committed to the cause of strengthening people of Ladakh, passed away this morning at Leh.
Leaders across party lines including All India Congress Committee (AICC) president Sonia Gandhi, Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Ghulam Nabi Azad, National general secretary Ambika Soni, National Conference president Dr Farooq Abdullah, NC vice-president, Omar Abdullah, besides senior leaders of Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC), NC and PDP expressed heartfelt condolences over the demise of the towering leader and conveyed deepest condolences to bereaved family.
All India Congress Committee (AICC) today expressed profound grief over the passing away of former Union Minister and party veteran P Namgyal. Expressing grief over the demise of party veteran, AICC president Sonia Gandhi conveyed deepest condolences to family, relatives and friends of the departed soul. She expressed solidarity with the bereaved family.
Expressing his heartfelt condolences on the demise of octogenarian Congress leader, Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Gulam Nabi Azad said, “I am deeply saddened by the sad demise of former Union Minister of State, P Namgyal. He will always be remembered for his worthy contribution for welfare of people of J&K in general and people of Ladakh in particular”. Azad prayed the Almighty to give strength and courage to the bereaved family and peace to the departed soul.
General secretary of AICC, Ambika Soni and other senior leaders in Delhi also condoled the demise of their senior party colleague. They described the deceased as a man of commitment, who always remained committed to the cause of strengthening people of Ladakh. The leaders conveyed deepest condolences to bereaved family, expressed solidarity with them and prayed for eternal peace to departed soul.
NC president and MP from Srinagar Dr Farooq Abdullah and NC vice president Omar Abdullah expressed profound grief and sorrow over the demise of former Union Minister of Parliamentary Affairs. Expressing grief over the demise of Namgyal, Farooq said, “I express my sympathies to the mournful family in their hour of grief and pray for peace to the departed soul. Namgyal ushered in an era of development in Ladakh. He will be remembered for sheer amount of good work, which he rendered while serving the country and the people of Ladakh in various capacities”.
NC chief spokesperson Aga Syed Ruhullah Mehdi, provincial president Nasir Aslam Wani, Qamar Ali Akhoon, Hanifa Jan, district president Leh P Anchuk, Tsten Namgyal, Councilor Leh P Wangdam and Nazir Khan also expressed grief over the demise of Namgyal.
JKPCC president GA Mir expressed profound grief over the passing away of veteran party leader and conveyed deepest condolences to bereaved family, friends and relatives. Mir described the passing away of veteran leader as a great loss to the Congress Party and people of Ladakh UT. The loss of P Namgyal cannot be replaced by anything, added GA Mir expressed sympathies with the bereaved family. He also prayed for eternal peace to departed soul.
Former JKPCC president and ex- Union Minister Prof Saifuddin Soz expressed deep sorrow over the demise of P Namgyal, describing the deceased as a visionary and upright personality, who remained committed to the cause of serving people to the best of his ability. Prof Soz conveyed his heartfelt condolences to bereaved family and prayed for eternal peace to departed soul.
Expressing grief over the demise of P Namgyal, former PCC president Peerzada Mohd Sayeed described him a committed Congress man whose contributions to overall development of J&K and Ladkah UTs shall always be remembered. Congress Party has lost a great leader in the demise of P Namgyal, he said and expressed solidarity with the bereaved family.
Senior party leaders Dharmpal Sharma, Gurmukh Singh, Tara Chand, Madan Lal Sharma, Prakash Sharma, Taj Mohi U Din, Raman Bhalla, Mohd Sharief Niaz, RS Chibb, Jugal Kishore, G M Saroori, Gulam Nabi Monga, Haji Abdul Rashid Dar, Mohd Anwar Bhat, Amreen Badre, A S Micky and various other party functionaries also expressed profound grief over the demise of the party veteran and conveyed deepest condolences to bereaved family.
Expressing profound grief and sorrow over the passing away of P Namgyal, JKPCC chief spokesperson Ravinder Sharma said that the veteran leader has not only served the people of Ladakh but the entire country for a long time during his long public life in different capacities. He described the deceased leader as a man of firm principles who believed in simplicity, honesty and truthfulness.
Former Minister Mula Ram, DCC Rural president Hari Singh Chib and Corporator Ward No 60 Rajni Bala expressed grief over passing away of veteran Congress leader P Namgyal. Mula Ram conveyed deepest condolences to family, relatives and friends of departed soul. Expressing condolences, Hari Singh Chib described P Namgyal as a man of commitment, who always remained committed to the cause of strengthening people of Ladakh.
JKPYC president Uday Chib expressed deep shock over the death of veteran Congress leader and conveyed his sympathies to the bereaved family. He described Namgyal’s demise as great loss to the people of Ladakh to whom he (Namgyal) wanted to serve in different ways.
PDP also condoled the demise of the 3-time MP from Ladakh. A spokesman of the party while condoling the demise stated that late Namgyal had an illustrious career and his contribution to the society is immense. This void is difficult to bridge, he added.
