SAMBA, Mar 17: Minister for PHE, Irrigation & Flood Control, Sham Lal Sharma today called upon the workers of Congress and National Conference to gear up their efforts to ensure the landslide victory of joint candidate Jammu-Poonch Parliament constituency, Madan Lal Sharma.
Addressing huge gatherings of workers of Congress and National Conference, Sarpanch, Panchs and general public at Samba and Vijaypur, the Minister said that present Lok Sabha elections are being fought between secular and communal forces and every right thinking person should make efforts to keep the communal forces out of power, which he said would be dangerous for the pluralistic society of India.
He said there is no place for communal forces as India is the country of multi-religion and multi-lingual and secularism has to be strengthened further to ensure peace, progress and prosperity of the country. This is possible when the Congress is in power, said the Minister.
Highlighting the achievements of UPA Government in the Centre during the past one decade, the Minister said that country substantially progressed in all fields and there was complete peace all over. The Kashmir situation also remained peaceful and notable decline has been seen in the militancy activities.
The Central Government has taken several landmark decisions for the welfare of the common man, especially those living below the poverty line which, speak themselves. The Centre also provided free flow of funds for the development of the State during the past one decade. He asked the people to again bring the UPA in power to ensure all round development and progress of the country.
Describing the BJP as party responsible for spreading hatred sentiments and creating wedge between the communities, the Minister said the people must defeat their design and stop it to come to power. He said BJP’s sole motive was to come in power by hook or by crook and disintegrate the country in the name of religion but people of India are mature enough and they understand the game plan of such communal forces and will never allow them to succeed in their mission.
During the electioneering, the communal forces will beat the drums and give hollow slogans in the name of Ram Temple and safeguarding the interests of Hindus, but after the elections are over, they will also vanish and remain off the scene for next five years. He asked the people not to fall prey to the game plan of communal forces and exercise their right to franchise after giving deep thought to ensure safe and secure future.
Several leaders of Congress and National Conference also addressed the gatherings and asked the people to vote and support the joint candidate, Madan Lal Sharma in the Lok Sabha elections.
