DDG ICAR inaugurates boys hostel at SKUAST-Jammu

JAMMU, Feb 7: Dr Narendra Singh Rathore, Dy Director General (Education), ICAR, New Delhi, in the presence of Dr Pradeep K Sharma, Vice-Chancellor, SKUAST-Jammu, today inaugurated 200- room single occupancy boys hostel at Main Campus Chatha.
This hostel, named as Sankalp Hostel, is a unique of its kind in India with all modern facilities viz Recreation hall, Computer Lab, Spacious Dinning hall, Waiting hall, Tuck shop and kitchen facility etc.
The hostel building is having an area of 5423.00 M2 and is jointly funded by the ICAR and State Government under Capex Budget. The said hostel has been made functional by allotting the same to the students from the academic session 2018-19.
DDG (Education), ICAR and Vice Chancellor appreciated the efforts of Dr Deepak Kher, Director Planning & Monitoring cum Chairman, Standing Works Committee; S K Gandotra, Estates Officer; S Iqbal Singh, Executing Engineer and his team for creating this state of art infrastructure.
Dr J P Sharma, Director Research; Dr K S Risam, Director Extension and Rajesh Talwar, Comptroller cum Registrar; Dr M M S Zama, Dean FVSc & AH R S Pura; Dr S E H Rizvi, Dean FBSc; Dr Rajesh Katoch, Dean, Student Welfare; Dr S K Gupta, Librarian and K K Raina, Asstt Executive Engineer were among those present at the inaugural function.
