UDHAMPUR, Oct 1: District Development Commissioner, Udhampur, Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary along with all district and sectoral officers convened a public meeting at Majalta where issues and demands related to more than 30 Panchayats of 3 blocks were discussed and decisions taken regarding a series of developmental works.
Issues related to water supply schemes, power supply, installation of transformers, shortage of teaching staff, land compensation, ration supply, pensions, construction of roads and bridges, repair of damaged infrastructure, mobile schools, transport and decentralised planning were discussed. The Sarpanches from various Panchayats expressed gratitude to district administration for prompt payment of land compensation, disaster relief and initiation of repair works in various roads recently.
The DDC responding to the public demands and discussions held during the meeting informed that more than 10 foot bridges will be constructed in Majalta and Khoon block for various schools. He also sanctioned funds for upgradation and replacement of various transformers, water supply schemes, construction and repair of roads by PWD and RDD, plantation and rural infrastructure.
Dr Shahid impressed upon the Sarpanchs and Panchs to deliver their duty related to 14 line departments and ensure inspection of Anganwadi centres, primary schools, water supply schemes and other works in their Panchayats. He called upon the PRIs to ensure greater public participation in every developmental endeavour initiated by the district administration in line with the broader policies of Coalition Government.
The DDC inspected various developmental works including PMGSY roads, school buildings, construction of bridges, departmental buildings and offices of education and Health Department. He directed the X-En PMGSY to ensure completion of three major roads by the end of calendar year. A team of officers was constituted for delinking of all services of Village Channi Mansar from Samba and providing through departments in Udhampur district.
