KATHUA, Jan 21: District Congress Committee, unit Kathua led by its president Dr Manohar Lal Sharma today took out a tractors rally, supporting on going farmers protest in the country.
The Congress slammed the NDA Government for its adamant and anti- farmer attitude and said it was most unfair and unjustified move of the Modi Govt. They also submitted a memorandum to Deputy Commissioner, Kathua for the same issue.
While addressing the rally, Manohal Lal criticized NDA Govt at the Centre and said that present farmers’ protest in the country is result pf BJP’s politics of `false hood & deceit’. He said farmers are representing 130 crores people of the country and said it feels immense pain when these farmers are outraged by terming them as anti-nationals by BJP leaders and also slammed remarks made by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders on farmers’ protest, calling it “most unfortunate and condemnable. The Government must find an amicable solution and address the grievances of farmers sympathetically instead of blaming gangs, anti-national elements for these protests.
He said farmers are protesting in a peaceful manner. Their protest is for their most genuine concerns, which the Government is ignoring. The farmers are fighting for their legitimate rights, and their protests are getting support from every section of society. The farm laws that are not in the interest of the farming community must be taken back but Prime Minister Modi has time to meet industrialists, but not farmers, he said.
Dr Sharma further said that the Central Government has met the farm leaders several times now, but how will they proceed when the Government refuses to compromise. The Government should support the farmers and listen to their demands by repealing the three laws.
“The entire country depends on the farmers. It is time that this Government should embrace them as well, People have lost faith in the BJP. Around 70 farmers have sacrifices their lives for abolishment of these draconian farm laws by BJP Government,” he claimed.
