KATHUA, June 15: Deputy Commissioner Kathua, Rakesh Minhas and Mission Director, Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM), Ghulam Nabi Itoo today jointly chaired a meeting of coordinating departments of the JJM in the Conference Hall of DC Office and reviewed the status of Mission Schemes.
During the meeting, comprehensive deliberations were held about the physical and financial progress of works being executed in the district.
The meeting was informed that funds to the tune of Rs 9158.270 lakh are available out of which an expenditure of Rs 6403.15 lakh has been made which comes out to be 69.91%.
It was also given out in the meeting that 60,371 out of 1,34,135 households in Kathua have water connections by the end of March 2023 and 73,764 households are yet to be provided with tap water connections.
While discussing the measures for Water Quality Monitoring & Surveillance (WQMS), the meeting was informed that Kathua has one (01) Lab at the district level and two (02) at sub divisional level for conducting the test to check quality of drinking water.
Reviewing other measures for the quality of water, the meeting was informed that 2580 women have been trained for use of FTKs for conducting tests of water samples to ensure the supply of quality potable water.
Regarding the IEC activities, it was apprised that 453 Jan Sabhas, 455 Gram Sabhas, 318 baseline survey, 217 wall writings/slogan writing, 320 Prachar Raths, 342 school rallies, and 36 street plays/ Nukkad Natak have been conducted to create awareness among the common masses across the district.
The directions were passed to the officers to work in coordination and ensure the smooth execution of JJM works in their respective areas.
While addressing the meeting, Deputy Commissioner Kathua ensured early resolution of all the issues under JJM schemes related to the revenue department. He also called for convening monthly meetings with contractors to resolve their genuine issues and added that any delay in execution of JJM schemes on the part of the contractor will not be tolerated.
Mission Director JJM while taking serious note of slow pace in execution of allotted works directed Executive Engineer JJM to expedite the pace of execution of works allotted to the contractors and ensure completion within the stipulated time period. The Mission Director also passed instructions to the concerned officers for identifying the unregistered water connections besides motivating the people to get their connections registered.
Later, the Mission Director also interacted with the contractors and listened to their issues/grievances and assured resolution of genuine grievances on priority.
Among others, Officers of various line departments, DFOs, AEE, JEs were present in the meeting.
