DB directs Div Com to file fresh status report

JAMMU, Oct 10: In a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by Advocate Sanjeet Kumar seeking pollution free environment in J&K, Division Bench of State High Court comprising Chief Justice N Paul Vasanthakumar and Justice Tashi Rabstan has directed the Divisional Commissioner Jammu to file fresh status report before next date of hearing.
After hearing Advocate Jatinder Choudhary appearing for the petitioner whereas Senior AAG SS Nanda with AAG Rakesh Khajuria appearing for the State, DB observed, “as per earlier direction Divisional Commissioner Jammu is present in the court and seeks time to file fresh status report”.
Accordingly, the Divisional Commissioner was directed to file fresh status report before next date of hearing specially mentioning the steps taken to provide pollution free environment.
It is worthwhile to mention here that earlier Division Bench had directed respondents to submit a report indicating the steps taken for removal of garbage from the Katra to Bhawan and solid waste dumping sites identified by the competent authority for dumping and disposal of garbage removed from the city and steps taken to ensure that such disposal does not in turn cause pollution and nuisance for the people.
