LEH, July 6: Thousands of people thronged at Jeve-Tsal Photang Shey to celebrate the 82nd birthday of Dalai Lama with great pomp and show today.
The celebration began with monk reciting prayers for Lama’s longevity followed by offering Mandal to the Dalai Lama.
Later the second session celebration started with singing National Anthem followed by cake cutting ceremony. Dalai Lama cut the birthday cake infront of huge gathering at Jeve-Tsal Shey. The function was organized by Ladakh Buddhist Association in collaboration with Tibetan CRO Office Choglamsar Leh.
Addressing the gathering, Dalai Lama said that he is making efforts to reproduce “Kangyur and Stangyur” in English in the form of a book title “Tsanriks Kuntus” which explains religion, psychology and reality. He said that all religion is based on love and compassion and asked the people to maintain peace, unity, communal harmony, understanding and compassion respecting every religion.
Central Tibetan Adminis-tration Prime Minister (Sikyong) Dr. Lobsang Sangay in his speech said that all Tibetans living in across the world mark today as the birthday of Dalai Lama.
Hill Council Chairman Dr Sonam Dawa in his speech said that all people of Ladakh will make efforts to follow Dalai Lama’s teaching in day to day life activities.
Central Tibetan Admini-stration Parliament Speaker Sonam Tamphel also spoke on the occasion.
Congratulating the Budd-hist from all over the world for getting the opportunity to celebrate the 82nd birthday of Tibetan spiritual leader Dalai Lama, Ladakh Buddhist Association President Tsew-ang Thinles in his speech expressed his delight over Dalai Lama’s going strong with sharp mind even at this age.
Galdan Trizur Rinpoche, Skyabje Thiksay Khanpo Rinpochey, Thuksey Rinpo-che, Executive Councillors, Councillors, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Moses Kunzang, religious head and other prominent person were present on the occasion.
In the end, Tibetan CRO Tsetan Angchok presented the vote of thanks.
