UDHAMPUR, Dec 20: Chairperson Destitute And Handicapped Welfare Association (DAHWA), called on Deputy Commissioner Udhampur and apprised him of grievances of pensioners of Majalta and Ramnagar tehsils.
Sumbria, while apprising the DC of hardships of pensioners in getting fresh handicapped certificates in view of Government circular, issued in this regard, urged upon him to ask the concerned authorities to conduct camps for issuance of these certificates at their doorsteps which would be quite feasible and comfortable for these people in distress. He said that the circular gives only 15 days to get the process done, which is not possible for the pensioners of hilly and far off areas as this would require a good time and money as well to go to Udhampur and get the work done.
Pertinently, the DAHWA conducted an extensive tour of various rural and far off areas of Majalta and Ramnagar tehsil and had detailed interaction with the old aged, widows, handicapped and destitute pensioners of these areas, were informed that these beneficiaries were not getting their pensions on regular basis. It was informed that all these beneficiaries have opened their accounts in the banks to get their pension from there as per the government orders but it is not being deposited in their accounts yet.
The issue was repeatedly taken up with district administration but all in vain.
Some of the aggrieved handicapped, widows and old aged beneficiaries who have received their last pension one to 7 years, included Situ Devi, Surju Devi, Tripta Devi Makhani Devi, Raju Devi, Raj Kumar, Deep Kumar, Premu, Shreshtha Devi, Gobind Ram, Vijay Kumar, Ramesh Kumar, Faqir Chand, Soma Devi, Raj Kumar, Reeta Devi and others.
