CVHDC holds meet, discusses demands

JAMMU, July 14: The Jammu Based office bearers Chenab Valley Hill Development Council (CVHDC) under the chairmanship of chief patron – Sheikh Abdul Rehman, ex MP, held a meeting and discussed threadbare the pros and cons over sanctioning of IIT for Jammu vis-à-vis objections raised by Kashmiri leaders.
It was unanimously decided to urge upon the State and Central Government that in view of about half dozen universities in Jammu and Kashmir, the IIT be opened in between Jammu and Kashmir at any Central place in Chenab Valley so that the poor public of this vast area comprising about 12500 sq Kms get benefitted as there is no educational institutions of this regions which is most far flung and backward from all yard sticks as compared with other regions and districts most probably the Batote the proposed teshil HQ falls at Central place between Jammu and Kashmir which is climatically suitable.
Those who participated in the meeting included R S Chauhan, Kuldeep Raj, Shekih Mohd Shafi, Sheikh Ayub, Arshad Malik, Amrit Varsha, Choudhary Mohd Shafi Ramban, Bhagat Swami Raj etc.
