Curbing corruption

Sir,
This refers to article “Curbing Corruption” by Amit Gupta (DE 21 st March 2019). Corruption can’t be curbed unless we don’t stop giving social acceptance to it. We as muslims believe that not offering Namaz is a sin or drinking alcohol is a sin but when it comes to corruption we don’t have same feelings inspite of the fact that in Quran there is clear mention that giver and taker of bribe will go to hell (Al Rashi Wal Murtahsi).
Similarly other religions also don’t allow bribery or corruption but religious leaders don’t discuss these issues in their sermons and public discussions. We need to involve religion in combatting corruption and I would suggest State Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) formerly called (Vigilance Organisation) to start a campaign of sensitizing religious heads vis a vis corruption. Let the Imams , temple priests , Buddhist Monks , Gurdawara priests etc be involved in this task by ACB. These religious leaders need to be trained on menace of corruption and they can share what different religions say about corruption. Small pamphlets and booklets can be prepared as well.
ACB needs to hold a series of these workshops at district level. Local NGOs can be made part of this campaign and I am sure this will have a great impact in society provided authorities are serious about eradication of corruption.
