Sir,
Refer the news item “Cries of family” DE dated 23/03/2019, for sure, would have made the eyes moist of any reader and heart proud for this brave soldier who was fearless in the quest to preserve the integrity of our nation, yet at the same time, the complete absence of political leader/s and so called representatives of common masses has once again showed very clearly, that paying last respect to a valiant patriot is just on a case to case basis and their august presence in any of such an event depends on their list of priorities which of course, everyone knows, what they are for them these days. This non seriousness on their part ultimately leads to the discrediting of the loyalty and steadfastness associated with the supreme sacrifices made from time to time by these brave hearts in their line of duty. This may further be noted that the soldiers who get martyred may necessarily not be needing our sympathy but we the common people and our representatives should definitely have the empathy with a collective capacity to imagine the price of our mental peace with which we are leading our daily lives is directly proportional to their absence of indecision even in the face of death and remains the true mark of their valor.
Politicians will come and go with the passage of elections, but what remains embedded in the collective consciousness of our nation, is the thought that we live because someone has signed the guarantee deed for our lives and liberty and let no one dare to forget or erase from their memory, the price our soldiers are paying by embracing and kissing, what we as ordinary mortals fear to even think of, let us hold our memory to be a witness of all this till memory remains no more.
