JAMMU, Nov 14: Chief Secretary Madhav Lal today asked the Agricultural Production Department to explore and chalk out a plan of setting up a terminal market (mandi) for agricultural produce.
Chairing the periodic Committee of Secretaries (CoS) meeting here, Chief Secretary maintained that this initiative would reduce the influence of middlemen and enhance direct market orbit for agricultural producers. He received a detailed brief regarding the procurement process and arrangements made by the Agricultural Production Department for the farmers during the current season.
Chief Secretary also reviewed progress regarding publicity material on Panchayat Institutions in the form of people friendly leaflets, pictures and booklets prepared by the Rural Development Department.
Status of computerization and digitalization of accounts in case of PSUs, capacity building and training of officers and various other issues related to improvement in personnel management system were also discussed with the Administrative Secretaries during the meeting today.
