Malhotra for speedy plantation in Jammu city

JAMMU, Nov 14:  Chairman, Legislative Council, Amrit Malhotra has exhorted upon the officers of Forest Department to intensify the plantation drive to make the city more green and beautiful.
He was reviewing the progress of the plantation drive, started by Forest Department in Jammu city, at an officers meeting held here today.
Chief Conservator Forests, Jammu Ravi Kesar, Director Social Conservation, Opender Pandita, Regional Director, Social Forestry, A.K.Gupta, DFO, Urban Forestry, T. B. Singh and Conservator Eastern Circle were also present on the occasion.
The meeting was informed that about 50,000 plants are proposed to be planted during current season while 24000 plants of various species have already been planted in and around the Jammu city so far.
Emphasizing for proper inter-departmental coordination, the Chairman directed the officers to take on board the other departments like PDD, PWD, BSNL and JMC to ensure hassle free and timely completion of plantation drive. He instructed them to erect proper tree guards so that safety of plants is ensured during the passage of their growth.
