SRINAGAR, Sept 22: Chief Secretary, B R Sharma today held another review meeting via video conference with Deputy Commissioners to fast track the construction of Srinagar-Jammu National Highway.
Pressing for urgently clearing bottlenecks including land acquisition cases, award of compensation, removal of structures etc impeding the construction process in certain stretches of the National Highway, Chief Secretary asked Deputy Commissioners to take immediate action in the matter and complete the task by October 15, 2015.
Principal Secretary Forests, Commissioner Secretary Revenue, Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Commissioner Secretary Public Works, Deputy Commissioner Pulwama, Ramban and Udhampur, ADC Anantnag and other senior officers were present in the meeting.
Chief Secretary also received brief on the action taken with respect to the directions given in the last review meeting on the issue held on September 18, 2015.
Reiterating his earlier direction, Chief Secretary asked Deputy Commissioners, NHAI authorities and executing agencies to coordinate with each other to expedite the work on the National Highway.
Meanwhile, Chief Secretary reviewed the supply and stock position to Ladakh region.
“Greater effort by departments is needed to rush in supplies to the region”, Chief Secretary said and set October 31 as deadline for getting the requisite material into Ladakh.
Chief Secretary received brief on the latest stock position in respect of food grains, petroleum products, LPG, construction material, cattle and poultry feed, timber, firewood, hard coke, medicine, hospital equipment, electric equipment and other material.
“Balance supplies should be dispatched to Leh and Kargil districts immediately to augment the winter stocks for the region”, he stressed.
