CRPF jawan kills wife, self

JAMMU, Sept 13: A Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawan this morning shot himself and his wife to death with service rifle and injured sister-in-law in a fit of anger after altercation with the family at his in-laws house in Aghore area, falling under the jurisdiction of Gharota Police Station.
As per police sources, a CRPF jawan attached with Sector Headquarters Bantalab killed his wife, himself and left his sister-in-law seriously injured after he entered into a verbal duel with family members early this morning in his in-laws house at Aghore.
CRPF official identified as CT/GD Madan Singh Chib, son of Ajeet Singh, a resident of Jourian Akhnoor, at present Thathi entered into an argument with his wife Deepti Rani and sister-in-law Deepak Rani over some issue after which he fired at his wife and sister-in law and later shot himself dead.
“His wife died on the spot while his sister-in-law sustained injuries and was rushed to Government Medical College and Hospital from where she was later shifted to Military Hospital Satwari for specialized treatment”, police sources said.
Eight-year-old daughter of the CRPF man, present on the spot, had a narrow escape and she is safe.
Police sources informed that there was grave negligence by the higher authorities of CRPF, who allowed the deceased jawan to carry weapon at home.
Meanwhile, a CRPF official said that an inquiry has been ordered to ascertain the reason which prompted him to open fire.
A case under Sections 302 and 307 IPC has been registered at Gharota Police Station and investigation started.
