CRPF jawan commits ‘suicide’

UDHAMPUR, Feb 18: In an apparent case of suicide, a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawan allegedly shot himself dead with his service rifle at 16 ROP at National Highway Saloura, here today.
The deceased CRPF Jawan, namely GD Patil Parveen, son of Patil Abhiman Harichand of village Kothali, PO Nimbhora, tehsil Bhadgaon, district Jalgaon, Maharashtra, was part of the Road Opening Party and driver of 137 battalion E-Company.
He was on duty when he shot himself with his Insas service rifle. On hearing the sound of gun shot, other soldiers came to the spot and took him in an injured condition to District Hospital Udhampur where doctors declared him as brought dead.
Police said it was a matter of investigation that bullet was fired by mistake or it was a suicide. Inquest proceedings have been initiated in this regard under Section 194 BNSS for further investigation.
