JAMMU, July 27: All units and establishment of CRPF in Jammu region celebrated their 84th Raising Day with full zeal and fervour.
Raised on 27 July 1939 in Neemuch (M.P) as Crown Representative Police, this Force has displayed numerous examples of courage, patriotism and national service, in the past 84 years.
From the first year of its inception, this Force started fulfilling responsibilities assigned to it. In the year 1949, the Force was rechristened as Central Reserve Police Force and has evolved today as a Force indispensable for the Internal Security of the nation. In a series of events that were held throughout the day, in Group Centre, Jammu the inaugural program was tribute to the martyrs of the Force wherein CRPF officers and personnel paid floral tributes to the martyrs at ‘Shaheed Smaarak’.
Chief guest of the program, Diwan Singh Negi, IG CRPF J&K Zone visited the quarter guard along with Bhanu Partap Singh, DIG, GC Jammu where he was saluted by the guard.
Thereafter, a special record was made by him in the visitor’s book of the Quarter Guard, and brief about the importance of “CRPF” raising day and apprised personnel about the glorious history of the Force and urged them to keep on working with full dedication, sincerity and commitment.
On this occasion, a plantation drive was also organized.
All senior officers and CRPF personnel planted saplings of Peepal/Ashoka/Amla/Bottlebrush.
Bank Manager Pawan Choudhary alongwith other bank official from SBI Branch Bantalab also actively participated in plantation drive in the campus. T. N. Khuntia, DIG, N. K. Yadav, DIG from J&K Zone CRPF, Manoj Dhyani DIG Jammu Sector CRPF, Rakesh Sethi, DIG Range Jammu, Suresh S. Commandant, J&K Zone, Sunand Kumar, Commandant, Jammu Sector, Prem Chandra Gupta Commandant, GC CRPF Jammu, and all other officers and jawans available in GC Campus were also present in this occasion.
