JAMMU, Oct 8: A rally was organised under the banner of All J&K Central Paramilitary Forces (CPF) here today under the chairmanship of retired Deputy Commandant, KC Bhagat.
A large number of retired CPF personnel gathered at Panama Chowk here and marched in the shape of rally towards Divisional Commissioner’s office and handed over a memorandum to the Divisional Commissioner.
They impressed upon the Divisional Commissioner to convey their pending demands through administration to Central Government for early redressal, which included one rank one pension for ex-servicemen, enhancement of medical allowance from Rs 300 to Rs 1000 per month, extension of ECHS facilities instead of CGHS medical facilities to the non-beneficiaries of medical allowance, enhancement of reservation quota in professional colleges for their wards, and special recruitment drive in CPFs.
Speaking on the occasion, general secretary of CPF body, Darshan Kumar, accused the Central Government for maintaining silence on the issue and stressed upon it to address the anomaly in Pension structure of Pre 2006 retirees, who are the most suffering lot.
He flayed the DGs of the forces for apathetic plight of the CPF, alleging that they never supported the causes of the CPF, discussed them with the Government and took them to the logical conclusion.
The spokesman of the Association, Netar Singh said that they would continue to organise such rallies throughout the country and next one would be at Union Capital, if Government’s response was not up to their expectations.
The speakers also lambasted the Government for turning deaf ears to the issues of CPF personnel and compelled them to land on the roads. They urged the Government to come clean and frame a comprehensive policy for the CPF. They also suggested law makers that taking into account their hard duties and roles, separate service and monetary rules should be enacted instead of CCSR.
