JAMMU, Sept 30: Principal Sessions Judge Udhampu, A K Koul has rejected the bail application of Naseer Ahmed, son of Abdul Kabir of Sudmahadev, who was allegedly involved in a case of abduction and rape.
After hearing Public Prosecutor Navneet Gupta appearing for the State whereas Advocate Pankaj Sharma for the petitioner, Principal Sessions Judge observed, “as the crime attributed to the petitioner is serious in nature and the evidence in support of the charge also appears to be weighty”, adding “the conduct of the petitioner after commission of the alleged crime needs to be noticed. He has subverted the process of law, did not participate in the process of investigation and now he seeks the reprieve from law”.
“It seems very strange that the petitioner in collusion with his parents committed the crime and thereafter remained absconding and finally surrendered in court after about 10 months. The argument of PP that there is every apprehension that if given bail petitioner would misuse the concession, appears to be logical”, the court said, adding “the petitioner is yet to be charged and it may not be in the interest of justice to extend the concession of bail to him at this stage”.
With these observations, Court rejected the bail application.
