Court awards 3 yrs RI to Myanmar national

JAMMU, July 24: Principal Sessions Judge Jammu, Kartar Singh today awarded three  years Rigorous Imprisonment and fine of Rs 15,000 to Saleem-ud-Din, son of Abdul Hamid of Myanmar, who was facing trial under Section 14-A Foreigners Act and 3/5 Passport Entry to India Act.
The convict was caught by Trikuta Nagar Police on May 14, 2012 and during his questioning it came to fore that he had entered India without valid passport.
After hearing both the sides, Principal Sessions Judge observed, “the accused is found to have committed offences punishable under Sections 14-A Foreigners Act and 3/5 Passport Entry to India Act”.
Accordingly, he was convicted and awarded three years Rigorous Imprisonment and fine of Rs 15000. In default of making payment of fine, the accused will further undergo imprisonment for four months.
