Course on Human Trafficking begins at Police Academy

UDHAMPUR, July 28: Three-day course on Human Trafficking commenced in Sher-e-Kashmir Police Academy Udhampur, here today.
13 Police officers from various Police Units are participating in the course that has been designed manifestly to comprehend various dimensions of human trafficking, buying and selling humans for beggary, sex trade, forced labour, servitude, organ transplant and the like.
Eminent speakers from academia, faculty and various units of J&K Police shall be delivering lectures during the three-day course.
In his inaugural address, SSP Mohan Lal (Dy Director) pointed out International instruments concerning trafficking in persons including trafficking in women, children, destitutes and poor. Trafficking in persons and slavery are umbrella terms used to refer to both sex trafficking and compelled labour.
It was conveyed that at the end of the course, the participants shall be able to investigate the cases effectively to the extent of unearthing the organised crime.
The course is being coordinated by Sanjeev Gupta, Inspector and Paramjeet Singh, Inspector Member faculty.
