Cops suspended for facilitating bovine smuggling

JAMMU, Sept 12: Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Doda Shabir Ahmed Malik has ordered suspension of two cops and attached three Special Police Officers (SPOs) for facilitating bovine smuggling in lieu of money.
While talking to the Excelsior, Malik said that an enquiry was ordered against SgCt Pardeep Singh, Follower Narinder Singh, SPO Surinder Singh, SPO Abdul Latief and SPO Ishtaq Ahmed for their involvement in corrupt practices by way of facilitating the bovines smuggling
He said that the enquiry was conducted by Additional SP Operations Doda Ravinder Pal and during the course of enquiry, the officials were found indulging in corrupt practices.
“The confessional statements of the bovines smugglers namely Farroq Ahmad, son of Ghulam Haider Malik, Mohammad Ramzan, son of Ghulam Nabi Malik and Ghulam Nabi, son of Abdul Gani, trio residents of Bharath, Mohammad Sikander, son of Abdul Gani Malik and Mohammad Hussain, son of Mohammad Ibrahim, both residents of Manjmi Dessa revealed that the officials had obtained illegal gratification in lieu of facilitating the movement of these bovines smugglers”, the SSP added.
Considering the reports of the enquiry, SgCt Pardeep Singh and Follower Narinder Singh have been suspended and the three SPOs Surinder Singh, Abdul Latief and Ishtaq Ahmed have been attached to DPL Doda, SSP said, adding a department enquiry has also been ordered against the officials, which will be conducted by SP Headquarters Vinay Khullar.
The SSP also informed that the matter has been referred to Vigilance Organization for registration of case under Prevention of Corruption Act against the officials.
