Case registered against rumour mongers, hunt launched

DODA, Sept 12: Doda police has registered a case against rumour mongers and hunt has been launched to nab them.
According to SSP Doda Shabir Ahmed Malik, it came to the notice of Doda Police that some photograph and messages of some boys of District Doda were circulated in WhatsApp groups regarding joining of militancy.
“On getting this information, Doda Police swung into action and started ascertaining the identity of these youth. During verification it was found that one of these youth namely Musthaq Ahmed, son of Abdullah of Sasarwar Tehsil Bhagwah District Doda was working as pony porter with Machail Yatra at Paddar Kishtwar alongwith his father. Doda Police established contact with him and called him back”, SSP said, adding that yesterday Mushtaq Rather reported at Police Station Doda alongwith a written complaint that he had gone to Paddar in connection with his work and some miscreants circulated a false message in social media claiming of his joining militancy thereby endangering his life besides defaming him.
SSP informed that acting over the complaint, Doda Police has registered a case under FIR Number 158/18 under Sections 120-B, 121-A, 505 RPC and 66 IT Act against unknown persons and investigation has been taken up.
He said that one more youth namely Ashiq Hussain of Kawkilla Dessa whose photographs were also circulated along with a fake message regarding his joining militancy has been traced out by police, adding that the boy was working with a private company at Hyderpura area of Srinagar. The boy has returned home safely.
SSP further said that a lookout notice has been issued regarding one more missing youth namely Masood Ahmed, son of Abdul Gani Butt of Manjmi Dessa who was involved in a case registered under FIR Number 7/18 under Sections 354-A and B RPC 7/8 POCSO with Women Police Station Doda for whom message were also circulated in social media regarding joining of militancy, ssing that Massod had actually gone underground as non bailable warrants stands issued against him by the Court.
SSP Doda Shabir Ahmed Malik said that the case against such rumour mongers has been registered and further investigation is going on to identify and book the culprits at the earliest.
“The messages regarding joining of militancy by the youths of Doda District are false and are being circulated to vitiate the peaceful atmosphere and instigate the youth”, he said and requested the public to refrain from sharing such type of fake messages in the social media.
