NEW DELHI, Mar 6: Copper futures prices today fell 0.22 per cent to Rs 437.95 per kg, as speculators trimmed their positions amid a weak trend in the global markets.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, copper for delivery in April declined by 95 paise, or 0.22 per cent, to Rs 437.95 per kg in business turnover of 923 lots.
The metal for delivery in June shed 80 paise, or 0.18 per cent, to trade at Rs 441.55 per kg in a business turnover of 19 lots.
Analysts said a weakening trend in base metals at the London Metal Exchange (LME) and subdued demand at domestic spot markets, put pressure on the copper prices at futures trade.
Globally, copper for delivery in three-months traded 0.30 per cent lower at USD 7,012.50 per tonne on the London Metal Exchange, while at Shanghai, it lost 0.80 per cent to 48,990 yuan (USD 8,011) per tonne. (AGENCIES)
