Cop held for narcotic smuggling; drug peddler detained under PIT NDPS Act

UDHAMPUR, May 14: A Police personnel was arrested for allegedly smuggling narcotic substance, which was recovered from his possession, while another notorious drug peddler has been detained under PIT-NDPS Act.

The accused cop was identified as Special Grade Constable, Sajad Hassan Shah (No. 078624/IR), presently posted at IR 19 Bn, son of Ghulam Hassan Shah, resident of Repora, Ganderbal.
According to Police, the accused was driving a Swift car, bearing registration number JK16A-9367 coming from Ramkot towards Manwal, was stopped for checking at PCP Battal. During search, 5.14 grams of heroin was recovered from his possession, following which, he was immediately taken into custody.
Accordingly, FIR No. 69/2026 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Majalta and investigation has been taken up.
Meanwhile, Udhampur Police detained one more drug peddler namely Chetan, son of Ashok Kumar, resident of Mandir Colony Chopra Shop, District Udhampur, under the provisions of the PIT-NDPS Act.
The detention order was issued by the competent authority and was executed today. The accused has been lodged at District Jail, Jammu.
